Who Gets The Dual Entry To The Semi-finals?
With three Athletic Associations competing for two spots in the Golden Horseshoe Bowl, the thee Associations are each given one wild card entry every three years in the semi-finals.
ROPSSAA wild card (2011, 2008, 2005)
GHAC wild card (2010, 2007, 2004)
SOSSA wild card (2009, 2006)
With only one league operating within ROPSSAA,
both league finalists advance when they have the wild card
SOSSA sends both the Hamilton-Wentworth and Niagara champins
GHAC sends both the Halton and Hamilton Catholic champions (effective 2010)
At one time GHAC had two qualifying games as follows:

Five leagues representing three Athletic Associations challenge for the Golden Horseshoe Bowl
On a rotating basis, one of the three Athletic Associations advance two teams to the semi-finals. The other two Associations are each represented by their Championship team.
In 2007, G.H.A.C. sent two teams.
In 2008, R.O.P.S.S.A.A. sent two teams.
In 2009, S.O.S.S.A. will send two teams.
