2011 Schedule Introduction
Schedules for the 2011 season will be presented to all coaches at the September coaches meetings.
The Tier One coaches meeting was held on Monday. September 12th at Donald A. Wilson while he Tier Two meeting occurred on Tuesday, September 13th at O'Neill. All participating schools were expected to be represented at the meeting.
Following these meetings, there will probably be schedule amendments due to bad dates. One must understand that these changes are unavoidable as dates are affected by ongoing activities within the schools including sporting conflicts. Officiating requirements may also affect game start times. Examples of bad dates where scheduling considerations were given include: school graduation, Grade 9 take your student to work day and PA days. It is recommended that once the schedules are posted that you check back frequently for changes especially game start times.
When a school is hosting a double header, usually the Senior game precedes the Junior game. If the game is an evening double header, the Junior games normally precedes the Senior games.
Several games will be conducted at night as both Pine Ridge and Denis O'Connor have lit facilities, which should enable them to host some night games (dependent upon permits being given by the City/Town). Tier One will be conducting Junior/Senior doubleheaders at the recently refurbished Oshawa Civic Fields. Both Tiers intend to conduct their championship games at Oshawa Civic Fields on different dates. In the past, Clarington Fields have also been used as a host for games over the course of the season.
For 2011, Tier One consists of four teams: Donald A. Wilson, Holy Trinity, Pickering and St. Mary. These teams will play a three game schedule over five weeks. Each of the schools will be scheduling exhibition games to complement the abbreviated league schedule. Present plans call for all teams to advance to the semi-final playoffs with the winning teams meeting for the league championship.
The Tier One Senior champions will advance to the Metro Bowl playoffs (to defend the championship captured by Holy Trinity in 2010), while the Junior Champions will advance to the Ontario Regional Junior Championship playdowns (often referred to as the Junior Metro Bowl).
Tier Two consists of twenty-three teams between the two tiers. Ajax, J. Clarke Richardson and Paul Dwyer have joined the Tier Two league for the 2011 season after competing in Tier One last season. Bowmanville will field a Junior team (to complement their Senior team) in 2011. Two Tier Two schools dropped their Senior program during September: Eastdale and Dunbarton.
The Senior Division will be split into two divisions (based on geography). East Division: Bowmanville, O'Neill, Paul Dwyer, Port Perry, St. Stephen and Sinclair. West Division: Ajax, Denis O'Connor, J. Clarke Richardson, Notre Dame, Pine Ridge and Sinclair.
The Junior Division will be comprised of eleven teams: Ajax, Bowmanville, Dunbarton, Eastdale, J. Clarke Richardson, O'Neill, Paul Dwyer, Pine Ridge, Port Perry, St. Stephen and Uxbridge. The league will operate as one division with each school playing a minimum of six league games. Playoffs will follow.
Note: Most recent change made October 29th (Include Tier One semi-final games)
